MR. woodhall's BIO
With a lifelong connection to boarding schools, Mr. Matthew Woodhall grew up on two campuses: Oxford Academy and The Woodhall School, where his father and mother, respectively, were heads of school. Mr. Woodhall earned his B.A. in English from Vassar College. He started his career in education as an English and drama teacher at Avon Old Farms. He also worked at Berkshire School serving as Associate Director of Admission and occasionally coaching crew and teaching Latin. He went on to earn his M.A. in Private School Leadership from the Klingenstein Center at Teachers College, Columbia University. In the fall of 2004, he joined Woodhall as an English teacher and Dean of School, where he oversaw academic life, college counseling, and physical plant operations. After conducting an independent search, the Board of Trustees appointed Mr. Woodhall Head of School in 2008. He resides on campus with his wife and twin daughters. Mr. Woodhall enjoys running, hiking, skiing, poetry, theatre, and music.
