mr. Gelzheiser’s BIO

Mr. Ed Gelzheiser was raised in Fairfield, Connecticut and earned his B.A. in Drama from The Colorado College and his MFA in Writing from the University of Pittsburgh.  As a boy he loved nature, baseball, writing, reading, movies, music, and Roberto Clemente, and, as an adult, none of that has changed for him. In the years before his arrival at Woodhall in 2002, he worked as a ranch hand, roughneck, roustabout, commercial fisherman, cannery worker, house painter, orchardist, waiter, and bookseller. He is the author of a three-times professionally produced play, Sudden Shadows, as well as much as yet unpublished fiction, including the novella Immediate Seasons, In the Method of Dragonflies and the young adult novel The Mill River Sisters. He is currently at work on a Vietnam War era novel entitled The Father of All. He resides in Tower Dorm, where he proudly serves as a dorm parent.
